Back in August 2015 I will thrilled to receive an email enquiry from Ana and Michelle asking if I was available to conduct an intimate ceremony for them the following month. It was to be a small wedding with just their closest friends and family attending and they had rented a fabulous venue, Fazendinha, up in the country-side above Tavira, where they would be staying for the week, holding the ceremony and party around the pool at sunset.
Usually when I arrive at a venue, there is a hustle and bustle of noise, make-up brushes and everyone organising the last minute preparations, but these two Brides were as cool as cucumbers and as they calmly finished getting ready, their guests mingled by the pool having a drink.
Michelle’s brother took the honour of walking the girls down the aisle and I think everyone was in tears (happy ones) before I had even started the Ceremony. After the traditional “I do’s”, Michelle and Ana also chose to say personal Vows to each other, which made it extra special.
We had decided to include the Warming of the Rings into the Ceremony, where all the guests, in turn, held the rings tight in their hands, warmed them with their best wishes and then passed them onto the next person. You could see everyone’s faces as they filled those rings with so much love.
After the Final Close, I was delighted to pronounce them happily married and they had their first kiss. The Champagne was popped and we all toasted to the Bride and Bride. It was such a joy to meet this wonderful couple and share in their big day.
